hookers on skateboards
Well... not really.
So i went into melbourne city centre today... lazy sunday and it was the last day of an exhibition i wanted to see at the NGV. 'screenings' . Suffice to say that if you saw it you know it probably wasn't up to much.. and if you didn't then its too late and theres nothing to tell you about anyways. Anyways, i was in the mood to wonder and i happened upon the
'no comply'
exhibition. A load of up'n'coming artists (from around the world as i far as i could tell) put some graphics onto skateboards.
I'm a big fan of contemporary art .. which i like to think is something different from modern art (i should probably preface this with the diclaimer that i have nothing even resembling any kind of formal education in any kind of art 'ology') in as much as i like seeing artists doing classic art using modern tools (in this instance the canvas as a skateboard). Its not so much a massive abstract statement (as in modern art) but an intelligent and creative use of an unusual canvas.
If anyone knows any theory a bit more 'accepted' - get in touch
