presents the elusive scientists from IBIZA, planetary centre of dance
music - GMS. With their mind-blowing music pushing and blurring sonic
boundaries, GROWLING MAD SCIENTISTS are one of the most in-demand live
electronic music acts in the world. Supported by international
megastars Space Tribe and Michele Adamson, along with local heroes, CONQUEST lands in Byron Bay with a splash! See you on the dancefloor...

GMS (Spun Records / COAST II COAST, IBIZA)
Groundbreaking
psychedelic trance group Growling Mad Scientists—Riktam (Shajahan
Matkin) and Bansi (Joe Quinteros, who is originally from
Barcelona)—regularly tour the world and have sold over 200,000 albums
on over 150 releases. Their music pushes and blurs sonic boundaries and
has inspired both producers and punters alike, making G.M.S. one of the
most in-demand live electronic acts in the world.

G.M.S. began
when Riktam and Bansi met in high school at age 14 in Amsterdam. Both
were passionate about electronic music, so the duo chose to leave
school and seek their education in the club scene. “We really didn’t
find what we really liked to do in school,” says Riktam. “We wanted to
focus on music, so we started DJing. It just felt like the right thing
to do for us.”

Even though they were too young to legally enter
a nightclub, Riktam and Bansi began spinning at clubs in Amsterdam. On
most occasions, they had to be whisked into the building’s side door to
avoid scrutiny by the authorities. While in the DJ booth, they’d often
receive double takes from clubbers who caught a glimpse of the two
teenagers rocking the dance floor.

It was on this Indian
paradise where the heady strains of Goa trance seeped into these
16-year-old’s bodies and souls. In Goa, Riktam and Bansi DJ’ed at some
of the wildest, most memorable parties of their young lives. The
experience made an indelible mark on their psyche and subsequent gigs
around Europe further enlightened their spirit.

Spun’s purpose
is twofold: to serve as a home for G.M.S.’s music and as forum to
showcase promising psy-trance talent. “We were releasing records with a
lot of labels for quite a few years,” says Riktam. “We thought about
how much money the label made and how much we made. It was wiser in the
end to have a label of our own so that we can help ourselves and other
artists and friends in the trance scene.”

With their songs now
almost omnipresent, even Hollywood took note of G.M.S. in 2004 by
licensing G.M.S. tracks for Man On Fire starring Denzel Washington. And
if you turn on any sports network almost anywhere in the world, chances
are good that you’ll hear one of G.M.S.’s tracks pumping in the
background.

Having graduated from playing small clubs to
performing at mega-festivals like Dance Valley and The Boom and packing
super-clubs line New York’s Avalon, G.M.S. aren’t ones to rest on their
laurels. As their legion of followers grows, they’re constantly
refining their live show and pushing their music to the next level.

“It
took us quite a while to get where we are right now,” says Riktam. “It
entailed a lot of hard work and a lot of time in the studio. In the
end, we’re proof that hard work always pays off.”

http://www.myspace.com/growlingmadscientists
TRIBE.........Olli Wisdom, Originally from England, now living in the
Rainforest near Byron Bay, Australia, has been a pioneer of Psychedelic
Trance for many years. In the early 80s Olli was the singer in the
theatrical Goth/Glam band "The Specimen", & ran the famous London
goth club “ The Batcave “. After the band split up in 1986 Olli went
traveling in Asia and in 1988 came to Koh Phangan in Thailand where he
first encountered the fantastic electro-driven wild psychedelic parties
on the beach. Instantly hooked, he immersed himself into the music and
has never looked back. He stayed there for 2 years, DJing, and set up a
small studio and making tracks for the parties, before moving to Goa,
India. Over the next 4 years, Olli spent his time mostly in Goa, but
now starting to travel around making parties in other places (San
Francisco, Switzerland, UK, Japan), spreading the word and turning
people on. In 1993, Olli, his brother Miki, and Richmond started Space
Tribe clothing in Bali. The fractal fluoro party gear was an instant
success, and now you can see it at parties all over the planet. In
1995, the first Space Tribe tracks were hatched in the studio with
Simon Posford (Hallucinogen/Sphongle), and everything flowed from
there. Olli moved out to the rainforest in Byron Bay in Australia, and
set up the Rainforest Space Base studio. Space Tribe released the first
album, 'Sonic Mandala' on Spirit Zone in 1996, and since then Space
Tribe has released at least an album a year. In 2004 Space Tribe Music
was set up as a record label providing an out let for Space Tribe
releases & compilation albums. Space Tribe are also making many
tracks in collaboration with other artists – Including Absolum, Sirius
Isness, X-Dream, GMS, Menog, CPU, Psywalker & especially Electric
Universe, working under the name ESP. Olli is traveling all over the
world, playing live at parties and bringing joy to the thousands of
dancers who know exactly why they are there. Space Tribe parties have
lifted the spirit and tweaked the synapses in Australia, Brazil, Japan,
South Africa, Israel, America, Thailand, India, Ibiza, Bali, England,
Germany, Hungary, Holland, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland,
and many more places. From Burning Man to Voov Experience, from the
mountains in Japan to the beach in Goa...

http://www.myspace.com/spacetribemusic

Soul-T / With over two decaides of experience Soul-T has become a
pioneer of the rave culture in Melbourne and founder of PHD(pure hard
dance). In late 2005 he also started another day club called Sundaiz, a

DJ Pulsar (MASIF / Sydney)
http://www.myspace.com/deejaypulsar

There's no disputing that trance is becoming one of the fastest
music genre exploding on a world wide scale. DJ's across the planet
have for a long time communicated these beats to clubbers via their
massive sets. One of these DJ's is Pulsar.

Starting out in 2000, Pulsar's passion for trance has never been
questioned and neither has his passion for pushing his unique sound to
the next level. For one to understand what Pulsar is all about, all one
has to do is watch him weave his explosive magic as he steps up to the
stage. Whether it is uplifting, banging, or just down right amazing,
Pulsar has it covered across the board.

His first club residency started back in 2002; this was a testament to
Pulsar's fast growing popularity due to his performance behind the
decks. From there he has gone on to play at almost every major Hard
Dance event and has held many residencies over the years at every major
club across Sydney. Pulsar currently holds residencies at Sublime,
Basscode & Daydreams with regular interstate shows in Melbourne,
Brisbane and Adelaide. Internationally, Pulsar tours regularly to Asia
with Samsung as a major sponsor. Clubbers have often described Pulsar's
style as "Explosive", "Pure Ecstasy", "Soaring", "Elation" and it
doesn't stop there as he throws a few surprises in his sets when
unexpected.

As a producer Pulsar has had a handful of releases in 2007 through
various international record labels with many more to follow in 2008.
He has recently been added to the MASIF DJs list along with other world
class DJs/Producers.

Make sure to join Pulsar on his next journey and experience the story
that is belted out through his latest production from his turntable
assassin.

Load of free CD's and GIVEAWAYS THAT NIGHT!

Also, a PHD stall will be up and running selling merchandise ranging from caps, t-shirts, jackets, hoodies + more!!

THE MADISON CLUB/BAR/KAROKE is a new club that has opened in FEB 08. We

Alert: Quill was recently interviewed by Briz 31 for a show coming onto the TV box early next year called 'Changerooms'. Will keep you informed on how it all pans out.

Partenze’ draws its influences from Niezsche, Rilke and Chatwin and explores the issue of movement and its various meanings. The common element is the concept of the voyage, depicted here as the search of something new, the instinctive attraction for the unknown, the desire of knowledge in the widest sense of the word. The multimedia performance incorporates the use of music, dance, acting, video projections and various other art forms and features Jaider de Oliveira, guitarist and percussionist performing ‘Moving’. Italian week overlaps with Queensland Week (3rd to 10th June) and the closing performance of ‘...Arrivi ... Partenze’ is on Queensland Day (6th June). The Queensland Government is supporting Italian Week and the Minister for Environment and Multicultural Affairs, Lindy Nelson Carr will open the premier of ‘...Arrivi ... Partenze’. The event is proudly supported by Mr Stephen J. Pellegrino, Chief Executive Officer of Australian Capital Limited, The Queensland Government, The South Bank Corporation and New Realm Media who are co-ordinating the event. I went the last 2 weekends, and it's been great. Most people say "Mybar" straight away, and it's definately true.

The only problem was that there was about 50 people in there. The place needed a few more people to make it jumpin.

The DJ had all the latest tunes, it was a shame the dancefloor wasnt packed. I just wanted to recommend the club, coz it's my new favourite and dont want it to close, or change new owners.

Anyway, hope to see you there sometime.

Rossington
SHAZAM PROMOTION

Hey did anyone check out SHAZAM PROMOTIONS first night at CLUB L9ONE (ex Calypso) in Coolangatta last friday 1st December.
