I actually just noticed the red-looking bits in my hair...I think it's just the lights, cause I haven't done anything to my hair in ages! But thanks I hope your thumb fixes itself up soon

I did something similar around 10 years ago - it eventually fell off - and never grew back!

Pretty much no nail for ages - but its just starting to grow back over the last couple of years

does look damn freaky - but not that noticeable - i'm definately never going to he a hand model though :)

I'd like to make up some great story - involving power tools, or rock climbing

but it was one late night - down @ a datacenter trying to fix a fried server. - i jammed it in the case while pulling shit out.

Mine snapped down the center - and kept getting caught - and ripping off (was damn painfull for months) - i was backpacking just after - so yeah - I didn't do anything about it - and it wasn't a problem by the time i got back to aus. as it sorta just never grew back - i think it gave up trying

Should have gone for workers compo or something - if a finger is worth like $20k - surely a fingernail wouldbe at least a few hundred :)

I'm freaking out now...the doctor has told me I may have to go on some medication for an infection which may cause some OR ALL of my toenails to fall out.

I think I cried about it the day I was told...but everyone said "don't worry, they'll grow back"

 i didn't do it at work.

i got workers comp last year when i broke my toe

they covered the cost of anything related to fixing my toe (ice pack, crutches, banadages, xrays) and paid my boss for my sick days but no additional compensation otherwise.

I have a nail story, it was bitten by my doggy, we were playing and he got carried away, he didn't mean it, he said sorry, I had a hole in my nail for a while, it's gone now.
